Ground Operations Squadron ground operations include both mission base activities and operational teams in remote locations. Mission Base activities are done at fixed base locations and do not require extensive amounts of equipment. These tasks include mission staff assistants, administrative officers, finance officers, mission radio operators, communications unit leader, safety officers, incident commanders, information officers, air and ground branch directors, and others. Operational teams include Urban Direction Finding Teams, Ground Team Members, and Ground Team Leaders. These disciplines are the teams which are deployed “in the field” and provide the on-site search and rescue activities as well as the direct active assistance for disaster relief operations. Team members have use equipment tailored for remote, self-sustaining operations and are trained in the used of specialized direction finding equipment as well as search and rescue techniques.
